About Gordon Jack

Transferable Skills ......
..... it's about using my vocal training and experience to bring texts to life
So, for voice over work, I'm using my classically trained singing voice, and my performing experience to bring texts into the aural domain. Also, my musically trained and very acute hearing allows me to edit audio to a high quality. But how did I get here?
Well, I am a singing teacher, music educator, singer and conductor with over 25 years experience in the business. I studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow in the late 1980s, gaining a BA in Music Performance and two Postgraduate Certificates of Education (PGCE) certificates in trumpet and singing.
My varied singing career as a freelancer has spanned solo, vocal ensemble, choral and operatic work throughout the UK. Also, I was a full time chorister a English National Opera for four years.
Directing choirs has been a major part of my musical landscape throughout my career. I have conducted many children’s, youth and adult choirs, in Iceland, England and Scotland. I was the first Director of the National Youth Choir of Scotland Training Choir and director of the NYCoS Aberdeen Area Choir.
As a music educator, I have taught in over 60 Aberdeenshire primary schools as part of Aberdeenshire Council's Kodály Musicianship and Singing Programme, and trained early years practitioners and lower primary staff to use the Kodály-inspired musicianship programme, ‘Sing-a-Ring’. Taught singing and musicianship on National Boys Choir (one of the National Youth Choirs of Scotland) courses and conducted the Changed Voice Section in concert.
My current singing teaching posts are at Robert Gordon’s College and the University of Aberdeen; and I am Director of Music of Inverurie Choral Society.
